MICROSOFT Launches three Cloud Data Centres
A year before Microsoft announced that the Company would set up Data Centres in India that would focus on offering cloud services.
On this Tuesday Microsoft launched it's local Data Centres in Mumbai, Pune and Chennai. The data centres were inaugarated by the chief minister of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. India has become one of the first countries after USA where Microsoft has made such big Investments. It will now have the highest levels of security and privacy. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has said that the government will utilise Microsoft’s cloud service to host a variety of digital services improving overall governance and boost productivity. Microsoft India is understood to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government.
Microsoft India said that by setting up local data centres in the country, it has become the first public cloud provider from India. The company hopes that the banking, finance sector and government agencies will be able to take advantage of local data residency. The government’s digital locker and UIDAI programs are also expected to benefit from the services.
